This work was our second brief to redesign Plymouth Gin, having updated their bottle and label design a few years previously. Having been bought by V&S, the team wanted a brand new look and to move away from the traditional story of the Pilgrim Fathers sailing from Plymouth to America.
Inspiration was found in Art Deco and it’s first mention in Harry Craddock’s The Savoy Book of Cocktails. It gave me the chance to indulge my passion for Art Deco and research 1930s fonts and create my own expression of the era. An updated Mayflower ship icon was also developed and their beloved trademarked Monk still featured as a little element of discovery when viewed through the reverse.
As well as the bottle structure (by Webb deVlam’s talented Product Design team) and label, Brand Guidelines followed and an in-house magazine.
