First in a new range from Bombay Sapphire focusing on individual botanicals and their provenance. Using specially commissioned illustrations and the signatures of the Master of Botanicals and Master Distiller, every aspect of the design and finishes were carefully considered to elevate this premium offering and reflect the craftsmanship of product, bottle and label design.
Second in the range is Tuscan Juniper.

A Special Edition bottle that pays tribute to artist, Jean-Michel Basquiat. Asked to adapt the artist’s masterpiece, Untitled (L.A. Painting), my main objective was to present the art and introduce the Bombay Sapphire brand in a way that represented both icons.
The need to be mindful of Basquiat’s artwork was paramount, ensuring it was presented in a way that honoured his legacy. Dye diffusion print technology was used to print directly and seamlessly onto the bottle without using a shrink sleeve.

Drambuie was failing as a brand despite a redesign.
We undertook an extensive strategy stage which landed in two territories - Battle Scarred Rebel and Beauty & Fire.
Our aim was to draw on Drambuie’s rich heritage and to reimagine some of the well loved elements of historical designs that consumers recalled.
Brown glass, cylindrical shape, rich red and gold label and of course, the legend of Bonnie Prince Charlie were carefully designed with new layers of illustration and textural details added to enrich this complex drink.
This was rolled out over all touchpoints and created a visual palette for comms and events.

Helping Bombay Sapphire enter the RTD market with a carefully considered design and outer carton. Overcoming print restrictions of aluminium and ensuring their iconic branding was delivered perfectly, the range included High Strength and Light variants as well as flavour offerings including Bombay Bramble and Bombay Citrus Collins.

Pitch concept work for Cazadores Tequila gave me the opportunity to do a deep dive into Mexican culture for inspiration. One of the things I found and intrigued me was Papel Picado - traditional Mexican folk art including animals, floral designs, and skeletons cut out from tissue paper and used to celebrate Día de Muertos.
The second concept explored layering with direct print, placing the stag at the front and the landscape on the reverse with a paper label containing the branding with hand drawn decorative embossed borders.
I included the proud stag in both concepts - a symbol used already by Cazadores, and redrew it to complement the two different designs I produced for the presentation.

Limited Edition gift packaging to celebrate the 250th Anniversary of the Bombay Sapphire recipe, this beautiful pack and gift box was a real labour of love. A hand blown crystal decanter - a bottle within a bottle - with laser etched branding and botanicals, its stopper was designed by Garrard Jewellers. The accompanying gift box with spot varnished botanicals and foiled elements also contained a booklet describing the story and process.

When Bombay Sapphire acquired Laverstoke Mill to base their Distillery and Visitor Centre, we had the opportunity to create Limited Edition packaging and a bespoke illustration to feature on pack and touchpoints around the Distillery.
The first Ltd Edition comprised a metal wrap around label etched with a guilloche pattern to reflect the sites previous use as a paper mill producing paper for bank notes.
The second design incorporated a magnifying glass, drawing focus to the magnificent glasshouses designed by Heatherwick Studio. The inside featured a fold out of the full illustration with Bombay Sapphire’s significant dates hidden within it as part of a competition to find them all and win a trip to the Distillery.
This illustration was done in collaboration with Si Scott and shows elements of the distillery buildings, flora and fauna as well as the botanicals, copper basket using in the vapour infusion process and copper stills.

Designs for BAT Cigars, whilst using traditional box structure, I dressed the whole box in matte white cover paper which was embossed with a square pattern all over to echo the BAT branding. Every detail was covered from box and banderole to story and ribbons. The banderoles were exceptional in detail with foiling and embossing to create an authentic look to a modern design.

Bombay Sapphire collaborated with up and coming artists to submit their artworks to create special edition backgrounds for their primary label. Some were individually placed to create a series (Bombay Sapphire and Bramble) or three artists worked together to create one image using their individual elements.
A challenge for both the artist and me as the designer to maintain Bombay Sapphire’s branding and typography to ensure legibility and standout whilst allowing the artist the freedom to express their creativity.
One was designed in collaboration with artist Ruff Mercy for “Creativity Is Essential”, an exhibit at The Design Museum that sold consumer goods packaged in art during the 2021 lockdown.
Little Patterns Maggie Enterrios illustrated the final one which featured her beautiful creation of botanicals using Bombay Sapphire’s blue hues.

The Citrus Collins is one of Bombay’s signature cocktails, so it seemed a natural progression into flavours to create an easy to make at home bottled version - simply add lemonade or soda water!
The design featured a frosted bottle (utilising an existing Bombay Original bottle) and a tactile varnished pattern of lemons and leaves to complement the intricate border.

Very much a team effort at Knockout for the Global redesign of Breezer! The new look included a new crown icon representing the brand's heritage and a crafted new wordmark gave the brand a new, modern feel. Rays of sunshine to evoke a horizon to add to the feel of sunny social occasions. Individual abstract patterns main label and neck label for each flavour - and there were a lot!
The design also translated onto cans for some markets and also dual language for Canada too.

Knockout were asked to create designs for a new Bombay Sapphire product with a new flavour profile enhanced by the addition of three extra botanicals - Cardamom, Turmeric and Mandarin Orange Peel. The background Illustration was done by talented fellow freelancers, Eduardo Murillo and was used as a tactile varnish and gold foil border.
Capturing those relaxing moments of a cocktail at twilight with a hint of subtle spiciness.

This work was our second brief to redesign Plymouth Gin, having updated their bottle and label design a few years previously. Having been bought by V&S, the team wanted a brand new look and to move away from the traditional story of the Pilgrim Fathers sailing from Plymouth to America.
Inspiration was found in Art Deco and it’s first mention in Harry Craddock’s The Savoy Book of Cocktails. It gave me the chance to indulge my passion for Art Deco and research 1930s fonts and create my own expression of the era. An updated Mayflower ship icon was also developed and their beloved trademarked Monk still featured as a little element of discovery when viewed through the reverse.
As well as the bottle structure (by Webb deVlam’s talented Product Design team) and label, Brand Guidelines followed and an in-house magazine.
